Accept that he’s a being autonomous from yourself and your desires from him and enjoy the times that he is affectionate. See if there are ways you can have fun times with him through other methods, such as playing ninja cat, hide and seek and chasings of dangly things.
If he likes food so much, maybe try teaching him some tricks using food rewards. Google training your cat.
