Ivy, Harley, Selina <3
awww this is gorgeous art! Though I’ve never agreed that Selina would really be FRIENDS with the other two. I was actually hoping that was Joker when I saw the small versions.

Even bad girls Hang Ten.
I want this as a poster!

After all these years, I got a letter published in a DC Comics again (back in the day, before they wiped the letters column out, I had about four published in different titles)!
Of course, they chose my happiest & most complimentary one to use… but oh well. This whole experiment has still demonstrated to me the fans’ voice can work… so I’ll keep on writing in letters! Really important now so they don’t mistake anyone for being keen on all these crappy changes they’re making. Bleeech.
dynastybeech:

Here’s a quote from the letters page of Gotham City Sirens 25. I can’t tell if they’re dropping hints or just throwing marketing spin out there like it’s cool. Here’s a grain of salt for you to take it with.
“Thanks all for writing in. We read every single letter begging and pleading for the return of Harley and Mistah J (seriously, we have! Ask Ian Sattler!). Now, of course, you know we can’t keep them like this…or can we? You’ll have to check out the new books in September to see where Harley and Joker are. It’s possible they haven’t even met yet! The romance may have all the potential to start anew…but will it? You’ll have to read and find out yourself.”
FUCK YOU, DC.
If Harley never met the Joker, HOW THE FUCK IS SHE EVEN HARLEY QUINN?
This is just stupid. Pretty sure it’s just a tease to keep us emotional, but it’s still nonsensical and annoying.
keter-in-malkuth:
As frustrated as I’ve been with a lot of the creative decisions that have happened under his leadership at DC, that post was originally intended to be a sarcastic joke riffing on the “I’ve felt personally victimized by Joss Whedon” meme. Reviewing the notes I’ve gotten on the post as well as hearing the stories about the DC panels coming from the SDCC this weekend, the full extent of his noxious behaviour towards female fans has come to light and it’s beyond disheartening.
It’s beyond infuriating to hear claims like DC hiring “the best” regardless of the personal details of the creator when the current regime is clearly built on 90’s Marvel/Image cronyism with mediocre to flat out unprintable artists like Rob Liefeld, Tony Daniel, and Greg Capullo being given prime assignments while female artists like Nicola Scott and Ming Doyle who are- in absolutely every quantifiable criterion for skill in visual art- head and shoulders above almost allthe artists on the plum assignments (with the rare and obvious exception of JH Williams III and Amy Reeder on Batwoman) shut out from all 52 of the announced monthly titles.
There is not a single fucking valid reason that anyone could give for hiring Rob Liefeld over Ming Doyle that doesn’t involve his relationship with Jim Lee. If you want a job drawing for DC you better either have been buddy buddy with Jim Lee at Image or Bob Harras at Marvel in the 90s or have a particular talent for drawing dehumanizing bullshit for misogynist neckbeards to jerk off to, because real actual talent is the exception- not the rule.
Yeah. I remember I LOL’d when I first saw your post. Then others’ stories started coming in and the LOLs stopped and the rage began anew…
The piss-poor celebration of mediocrity that has been the art on Gotham City Sirens (though lately it’s been better) since the title first began is how I KNOW DC doesn’t hire based on talent - and I can’t believe anyone would say that with a straight face. And expect us to swallow it. DC really do think we’re a bunch of dumb fuck-knuckles.

WHAT IS THIS?! WHERE IS THIS FROM? I neeeeeed it in my life.
Stop everything. Shit is getting REAL right now. Harley, why are you bein mean to Red tho?
Comic book OTPPPPPP like never before ;_;
Hate to break it to ya’ll, but she’s being mean because Red is trying to make her choose between her and the Joker and she’s choosing the Joker. She also points out to Ivy that Ivy has a false concept of her and believes her to be something she’s not.
It’s from Gotham City Sirens 24.
So, WOW! What a night! OH MY GOD!!!
Evelyn Ellenor & I arrived & put our stuff backstage before coming out to scope out the situation.
No sooner did we step down into the bar, then we saw our friends Aussie artist, Stewart McKenny & his beautiful partner Wendy, who had made the trek out to see the show! Anthony of the ‘not-gaybes’ was also there. We were so excited to see them!
But it was only a moment later that everyone else descended upon us! SO many amazing supporters from the geek community had come out to see the show! We were kept at a standstill for a good half-hour while many photos were taken - it was just like being at a con, lol!
So we went backstage with a glow in our hearts, feeling really good and positive, as we got into our costumes.
There’s always a few nerves involved before stepping on stage. We were wound-up but so looking forward to it - both of us just love performing!
We were UNlucky enough to have none other than the BATMAN introduce us - grudgingly, I might add, as he cautioned the audience not to encourage us!
Evelyn did her turn as Ivy first, bewitching and enticing the crowd with a sensual, slow, teasing routine, stripping down to glittery ivy-leaf g-string & matching pasties!
Then I was up as Harley Quinn, teasing and amusing the crowd with a sexy, bouncy, playful show, stripping down to sparkling red & black g-string & rhinestoned diamond-shaped pasties!
The cheers & applause were deafening! We felt so gratified! And it was especially awesome to have so many friends & supporters visible in the crowds!
Afterwards we thanked the crowd for their support but then demanded the Bat step on stage to answer to all his meaniness in his long thwarting of our schemes & fun! We asked the crowd: “who do you prefer? The good buy - or the BAD GIRLS?”
I bet you can guess the answer! Unanimously, they declared their love for the villainesses!
So we decided to make Batman pay! We started a chorus of “strip! Strip! Strip!” which the audience quickly took up.Daunted, Batman had no choice but to tear off his cowl revealing he was none other than - what!?! Chad, the Carousel event oganiser & MC! Disappointed, we departed the stage!
We spent the rest of the night watching the other shows, chatting with our friends & supporters, & dancing to the very awesome trio of singers. They sang, amongst other great tunes, Minnie the Moocher, to which the audience did the response, they dragged a bunch of us gals (and some boys!) on stage to dance to Lady Marmalade and then we all did a massive group dance to the Time Warp. It was truly epic! <3
We were overwhelmed by the incredibly positive response to our shows - everyone was so complimentary, generous, kind and lovely. We felt really amazing that we could give out a good show to a crowd that appreciated it and were SO grateful to all of those who made the effort to come and see us - we felt truly blessed and honoured!
And we can’t wait to do it all over again! <3 <3 <3

I ACTUALLY SCREAMED IN JOY.
For reals and serious.
And now I have tears in my eyes.

PLEASE LET EVERY PAGE OF THIS STORY LIVE UP TO THIS ONE.
(Yes, sorry, even a Barbossa special gets interrupted for glorious news about my OTP, the ship of my heart, JOKERXHARLEY!)

Gotham City Sirens #26
Please tell me this series isn’t ending?
Please tell me it IS!
I don’t really mean that… or do I? I dunno. It just hasn’t lived up to what it could’ve been and I’d rather see my fave gals in infrequent, QUALITY appearances than lots of mediocre ones - something Harley has been plagued with ever since she went mainstream.
Sigh. I dunno. If they wanted to overhaul GCS and keep it going, of course I would support it - I remember, way back when the series began I supported it wholeheartedly despite criticism cos I wanted it to work. I still want it to work. But at the moment it’s just kinda tugging along.
And to be honest - I really suspect they never intended this to be a long-running ongoing. Like Streets of Gotham, I think it was a filler to add extra titles and dimension while the Batman world was sorting itself out and would be wrapped up once the new directions were established. But obviously, they’re not going to TELL us that at the beginning.
I could be wrong, of course.

Gotham City Sirens #24 by Guillem March. Here’s the solicit text:
The breakout at Arkham continues here! When Batman shows up to stop the escaping villains, battle lines will be drawn. Will Selina stick by The Sirens? Or will she take on Harley and Ivy? The ending will shock you!
I’m willing to bet the ending WON’T shock me, but I like this cover art a bit better than others recently come out.

I have just have one little thing to say to this Gotham City Sirens story …
FUUUUUCK YOU!
I have the latest issues sitting on my comic pile.
I just don’t have the heart to read them.
Goddamn, looking at some of the COVER ART for this story arc had me literally in tears.
I don’t know if I can handle reading the story until I know how it actually finishes, in a couple of issues time. I don’t want to get caught up in hoping it’s all gonna turn out okay only to have my heart ripped out through my ribcage, like it was way early in GCS.
