Ivy, Harley, Selina <3

awww this is gorgeous art! Though I’ve never agreed that Selina would really be FRIENDS with the other two. I was actually hoping that was Joker when I saw the small versions.

So, WOW! What a night! OH MY GOD!!!

Evelyn Ellenor & I arrived & put our stuff backstage before coming out to scope out the situation.

No sooner did we step down into the bar, then we saw our friends Aussie artist, Stewart McKenny & his beautiful partner Wendy, who had made the trek out to see the show! Anthony of the ‘not-gaybes’ was also there. We were so excited to see them!

But it was only a moment later that everyone else descended upon us! SO many amazing supporters from the geek community had come out to see the show! We were kept at a standstill for a good half-hour while many photos were taken - it was just like being at a con, lol!

So we went backstage with a glow in our hearts, feeling really good and positive, as we got into our costumes.

There’s always a few nerves involved before stepping on stage. We were wound-up but so looking forward to it - both of us just love performing!

We were UNlucky enough to have none other than the BATMAN introduce us - grudgingly, I might add, as he cautioned the audience not to encourage us!

Evelyn did her turn as Ivy first, bewitching and enticing the crowd with a sensual, slow, teasing routine, stripping down to glittery ivy-leaf g-string & matching pasties!

Then I was up as Harley Quinn, teasing and amusing the crowd with a sexy, bouncy, playful show, stripping down to sparkling red & black g-string & rhinestoned diamond-shaped pasties!

The cheers & applause were deafening! We felt so gratified! And it was especially awesome to have so many friends & supporters visible in the crowds!

Afterwards we thanked the crowd for their support but then demanded the Bat step on stage to answer to all his meaniness in his long thwarting of our schemes & fun! We asked the crowd: “who do you prefer? The good buy - or the BAD GIRLS?”

I bet you can guess the answer! Unanimously, they declared their love for the villainesses!

So we decided to make Batman pay! We started a chorus of “strip! Strip! Strip!” which the audience quickly took up.Daunted, Batman had no choice but to tear off his cowl revealing he was none other than - what!?! Chad, the Carousel event oganiser & MC! Disappointed, we departed the stage!
We spent the rest of the night watching the other shows, chatting with our friends & supporters, & dancing to the very awesome trio of singers. They sang, amongst other great tunes, Minnie the Moocher, to which the audience did the response, they dragged a bunch of us gals (and some boys!) on stage to dance to Lady Marmalade and then we all did a massive group dance to the Time Warp. It was truly epic! <3
We were overwhelmed by the incredibly positive response to our shows - everyone was so complimentary, generous, kind and lovely. We felt really amazing that we could give out a good show to a crowd that appreciated it and were SO grateful to all of those who made the effort to come and see us - we felt truly blessed and honoured!
And we can’t wait to do it all over again! <3 <3 <3

So there’s this thing where I’m sorta getting sick of folks’ saying to me: “don’t you like how in Gotham City Sirens Harley is more independent? That she is finding herself?”.I hate this for two reasons:1. It’s NOT TRUE.2. It assumed Harley never had any independence or self-knowledge to begin withHarley’s “newly-discovered independence” thus far has taken the form of sitting on her butt most of the day twittering, playing computer games, getting into online debates and eBay shopping. When she’s not doing that, she’s walking the hyenas and eating junk food. Anytime the Joker’s name is mentioned, she get stupidly excited and betrays her love for him remains. Selina and Ivy have learned that if they want her to be useful they have to GIVE HER SOMETHING TO DO - or else risk the unthinkable consequences of: “BORED HARLEY”.Now, while I’m not GCS’ biggest fan so far, I have enjoyed all of this lighter character stuff because it IS very much in character for Harley, and it’s fun and entertaining. It’s not stretching her character beyond actually depicting her IN CHARACTER, which is quite a rarity in mainstream comics, so the high-talk about ‘finding herself’ is a conceit. As if Harley needed to find herself to begin with anyway! She has always had a very defined and absolute personality and has always, ALWAYS gone after what she wanted whole-heartedly. She doesn’t suffer from inner-turmoil over finding her true path in life. She lost her mind and found herself, but even before that she showed very little self-doubt or lack of self-defined purpose. The truth is, that in GCS, Harley still needs to be told what to do - to be given a role. This is not because Harley lacks independence but because she has no overarching objective. Without structure and without purpose, she is content to be utterly self-indulgent. This is what a lot of people with no understanding/experience of Dominant/submissive dynamic miss about this aspect of her relationship with the Joker. He does not simply control her, he gives her something to do. Don’t bring ethics into this; she’s a villain, he’s a villain, they do some fucked-up stuff. That’s so apparent it’s beside the point. Their behaviour is not supposed to be savoury or desirable and citing it in outrage or as an example of her cowed spirit is in these discussions nothing more than a strawman (Harley is plenty capable of very bad behaviour independently of the Joker and very GOOD behaviour alongside her dependence on him). The perception Harley never had any independence in her relationship with the Joker is also false. Harley is obsessed with the Joker, and his ego demands subservience, but she finds ways to assert her independence while engaged with him. Harley has demonstrated her ability to either demand what she wants or manipulate it. Take the episode ‘Harlequinade’ where Harley is all the way behind the Joker - until he refuses to swing by Arkham and pick her friends up. So she stops him - violently. The fact is, Harley submits in large part because she wants to.This is not to undermine the abusiveness of their relationship, or deny it because it absolutely is. I know that, I own it and I am frank about it - a lot of my fanfiction deals with the abusiveness between them and goes into a lot more graphic detail, both physically and psychologically, on it than the comics have ever done (I don’t have censors, though occasionally I have queasy readers!). But to pretend or deny there is nothing further to it, no greater nuance, is also dishonest. Finally, the interpretation of ‘independence’ here is a trite one. There has been some recent discussion in fandom about why ‘strong, female characters’ are actually not all they’re cracked up to be and a large part of Harley’s appeal is because she manages to be independent, bursting with unique personality, spirit and drive, without falling into the cliche ‘independent woman’ trope. Why would we want to see her transform from everything that makes her so wonderful as a character into something so ordinary? This attitude also minimises and erases erotic/emotional/functional identities like Harleys which are happier to submit, to serve and to be given direction. They exist, they are real and they are not without consciousness, choice and awareness.Harley doesn’t want to be “independent”. It isn’t in her nature to be leader. But just because she follows - and puts herself into positions where she can be the perennial number two - doesn’t mean she’s LEAD. Important distinction to make. No matter what, Harley always ends up doing exactly what she wants to do, even under the direction of another.Topping from the bottom. That’s our gal.

A little item of interest, as I take it for granted everyone knows about this, but apparently not as folks are always surprised when I mentioned it.
Harley checks into a hotel using my real name as her alias. A little nod to me by Ty Templeton. <3
